Comparison

ablefy alternative: when the contract comes before checkout

ablefy (formerly elopage) is a sales platform for online courses, membership areas and digital products, either in your own name or in the reseller model. ioumi is a contract and payment platform: you create the offer and contract, your customer signs via e-signature, and payment and invoicing run automatically in your name. The two are closer to each other than other providers, which is why this page takes a particularly objective look at where the differences lie and what fits whom.

ablefy and ioumi in three sentences

One model or two

ablefy lets you choose: selling in your own name (you are the contracting party, invoice in your name) or the reseller model via namotto GmbH. ioumi has only one model: you are always the contracting party, with offer, contract, invoice, payment and customer portal in your branding.

Contract, not just checkout

ablefy sells courses, memberships and products through a checkout with payment plans. ioumi puts the contract before the checkout: an individual offer with your terms, eIDAS e-signature with audit trail, followed by automatic payment collection and invoicing. For standard products sold via a link, ioumi offers payment links.

Payment plan per product or per contract

With ablefy, you create payment plans per product, with due dates for each installment, and the customer chooses in checkout. With ioumi, the payment plan is agreed per offer: down payment, installments, subscription, mixed forms, due on signature, at contract start, on a set date or triggered manually.

On fees alone, ablefy in your own name comes in €938 per month below ioumi here, and the reseller model €898 above. At this volume, we work with Custom pricing: terms per payment method, agreed individually; in the demo call, we'll go through your numbers.

Calculated with net amounts and the ablefy pricing matrix (fee tier based on gross revenue over the last 12 months and transaction size; Essential 3.0 charges a flat 3.9% or 7.5%, and new sellers start in the “Seed” tier with higher rates). With ablefy's own payment methods, processing is included in the fee, while your own PayPal or Stripe account and Klarna (+2.9%) cost extra. In practice, percentage fees are charged on the gross amount.

To be honest: if you sell in your own name and move up the ablefy pricing matrix as your revenue grows, you'll pay lower fees with ablefy than with ioumi; in the reseller model, it's the other way around. The difference between the two isn't the price but the product: with ioumi, every payment is preceded by an individual offer with a contract and e-signature, the payment plan is agreed per contract, and commissions for your team are tracked. If you need that, compare the fees with what you'd otherwise spend on extra tools and manual work. And above a certain volume, ioumi's list prices are only the starting point anyway: with Custom pricing, we agree on terms per payment method individually.

An honest comparison: what fits where?

With ablefy

  • Courses, membership areas and products via a checkout, no individual offers with a contract
  • No e-signature with audit trail provided
  • Payment plans per product, the customer chooses in checkout, no plan per contract
  • Monthly base fee from €39 (Essential: 3 products) up to €549
  • Fees based on a pricing matrix: depending on revenue tier and transaction size, Essential 3.0 a flat 3.9% or 7.5%
  • In the reseller model, namotto is the contracting party, the invoice is in the reseller's name, and payouts happen 1 to 2 × per month with a buffer

With ioumi

  • Individual offers with your own contract terms and T&Cs
  • eIDAS e-signature with audit trail, right in the offer flow
  • Payment plan per offer: down payment, installments, subscription, mixed forms, due dates via trigger
  • One model: always the contracting party, with invoice, payment and customer portal in your branding
  • One price per plan: from €0 base fee, from 2.9% + €0.50 per payment; Custom pricing per payment method at higher volumes
  • Weekly payout after a 7-day security period

To be fair: ablefy is a good fit if you sell online courses, membership areas, communities or tickets and want hosting, marketing integrations and the choice between selling in your own name and the reseller model. ioumi is built for offers that come out of a conversation: coaching, consulting engagements, agency projects and retainers, with a contract, signature and automatic payment in your name. ioumi doesn't host course content, but it unlocks access via automation after payment.

Frequently asked questions about switching from ablefy

  • ablefy also lets you sell in your own name. So what's the difference from ioumi?

The contract. With ablefy, you sell products through a checkout, including in your own name. With ioumi, every payment is preceded by an individual offer with your contract terms, which your customer signs via eIDAS e-signature; the payment plan, collection and invoice then run automatically from the signed contract.

  • Can I host my courses and membership areas in ioumi?

No, ioumi doesn't host course content. ioumi takes care of the contract, payment and invoice and, after payment, unlocks access in your course platform via automation, webhook or integration. That's why many people use ioumi for selling and their existing course platform for hosting.

  • How do ablefy's and ioumi's payment plans differ?

ablefy creates payment plans per product: one-time payment, subscription, limited subscription, installments, with due dates for each installment; the customer chooses in checkout. ioumi sets the payment plan per offer, i.e. individually for each customer: down payment plus balance, installments, subscription, mixed forms, due on signature, at contract start, on a set date or triggered manually. For standard products, ioumi offers payment links with selectable options.

  • What happens to ongoing payments at ablefy?

Ongoing ablefy payments run out there. You start new deals and payment links in ioumi. If needed, you can offer existing customers with open installments a new plan in ioumi, which the customer confirms once. We import customer and product data as far as it can be exported.

  • Is ioumi more expensive than ablefy?

It depends on the model: in your own name, ablefy is usually cheaper on fees alone; in the reseller model, ioumi is cheaper. ablefy has a base fee from €39 and, in your own name, charges 1 to 3.9% + €0.50 per payment, tiered by revenue and transaction size; in the reseller model, 1.5 to 7.5% + €1. ioumi starts at a €0 base fee with 6.9% + €1.50 and drops to 2.9% + €0.50 on the Scale plan. If you sell in your own name and move up the ablefy matrix, you'll pay lower list fees there; in return, ioumi gives you a contract, e-signature and a payment plan per offer, plus Custom pricing with terms per payment method above a certain volume. The sample calculations above show two typical months as of August 19, 2026.

  • Can I use ablefy and ioumi in parallel?

Yes. The systems are independent. You can keep courses and membership areas running at ablefy and handle individual offers, contracts and payment links through ioumi.
